Two-step sign-in

Setting it up, signing in with a code, backup codes, and what to do if a code won't work or you lose your phone.

Two-step sign-in asks for a 6-digit code from an app on your phone after your password. If your password ever leaks, nobody can get in without your phone too.

  • Owners and admins must use it. It protects every record, pay figure and tax document in the business.
  • Staff can choose to turn it on. It keeps your profile, schedule and documents safe.

What you need

A free authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator or Apple Passwords (built into iPhone). Setup takes about two minutes.

Setting it up

Owners and admins: Settings → Security. Staff: your portal's Account tab.

  1. Tap Set up two-step sign-in.
  2. Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code. If you can't scan, type the key shown under it instead. It appears in the app as Logidex with your email.
  3. Type the 6-digit code the app shows. As soon as it matches, two-step sign-in is on.
  4. Save your 8 backup codes. Use Download .txt, Print or Copy, and keep them somewhere that isn't your phone.
  5. Tick I've saved these somewhere safe and tap Done.

⭐ If you get pulled away partway through, tap Continue setup when you come back. You'll see the same QR code, so the Logidex entry already in your app keeps working. You don't need to scan it again.

Signing in

After your password, Logidex asks for the code from your app. Codes change every 30 seconds, so type the one showing now.

Remember this device for 30 days is ticked for you. On a phone or computer you use every day, leave it ticked and you'll only be asked once a month. On a shared computer, untick it.

When a code won't work

  • Use the newest code. If it changes while you're typing, wait for the next one and type that.
  • Check you're reading the right entry. If your app shows more than one Logidex entry, an old one from an earlier setup won't work. Use the newest, and delete the old ones.
  • Check your phone's clock is set automatically. Codes are based on the time, and a clock that's off by a minute or more gives wrong codes.
  • After 5 wrong tries you have to wait. Logidex pauses for up to 15 minutes. Wait it out rather than guessing, or use a backup code.

Backup codes

If you don't have your phone, tap Use a backup code instead on the code screen. Each code looks like 7KQ4-M2XB and works once.

Running low, or think someone saw them? In Settings → Security (or your portal's Account tab), tap New backup codes. Your old ones stop working straight away.

Lost your phone, or locked out

  • Staff and admins: use a backup code. If you have none, ask the business owner. They can reset yours in Settings → Team with Reset their two-step, and you set it up again the next time you sign in.
  • Owners: use a backup code. If you have none, email support@logidexhq.com from the address you sign in with.

Remembered devices

Your Security card lists every device that's been remembered. Tap Forget on any you don't recognize, or Forget all devices to be asked for a code everywhere next time.

Changing your password also forgets every remembered device, so you'll be asked for a code on each one again.

Turning it off

Staff can turn it off from the same card, with a code from the app or a backup code. Owners and admins can't turn it off, because it's required for them.
